Barking College’s ESOL teachers make good use of their technology-rich classroom and subject-related software. The space available allows for whole-class access to PCs, group work and role-play activities.
One of the drivers of blended learning within the ESOL curriculum at Barking has been the need to provide one-to-one tutorials, whilst ensuring other students can work on individualised programmes. Moodle-hosted tools and materials help to achieve this.
This case study for the Excellence Gateway looks at Barking’s experience of using the communication and collaborative tools within Moodle to target different aspects of the ESOL curriculum and support classwork and students’ self-study.
