The past year has seen definite signs of interest from a wide range of providers around the Green IT agenda. As with any emerging area requiring strategic engagement, we have responded to your need to hear other providers’ experiences. Several stories were shared at our headline theme event held at City Hall in February. Woodhouse Sixth Form College’s drive on sustainability has been the focus of a case study. Recently, the continued importance of Green IT was underlined by further Salix funding being made available. City and Islington College shared their experience with us in a webinar of developing a greener IT service. Stanmore College is putting a number of measures in place to promote sustainable practices: awareness raising Fairtrade Fortnight, pushing recycling, introduction of automatic printing on both sides of the paper, as well as embedding green practices into their new build.
As we plan for next year’s delivery, RSC London recognises that green and sustainable agendas still have to be engaged with by many senior management teams, so we will continue to offer advice and support in these areas. We are also investigating how we might build fuller regional picture of the sustainable actions taken by providers across London.
