Finding and Evaluating Open Educational Resources (OERs)

Room G37 at Senate House was packed out this lunchtime – despite a glorious spring day going on outside! Librarians, teachers and e-learning people gathered for another useful CDE workshop convened by Tom Inkelaar .

Led by Drs Jane Secker (LSE) and Stylianos Hatzipanagos (Kings College) and with insightful contributions from others present, it proved a valuable session, accessible and interesting for those new to the topic as well as those bringing more knowlege and experience.

The presentation slides below introduce OERs with some definitions before looking at  frameworks and standards, IPR and conversion issues, an overview of some major OER initiatives and recent project work at the LSE and King’s College. The workshop allowed time for personal exploration of some OERs and ended with a group discussion around the challenges and motivations of reusing and creating OERs.
